I began researching a home solar energy system because my family and I wanted to reduce our carbon foot-print. We are concerned about the environment and wanted to decrease the effect that our everyday living was having on it. We’ve been recycling for a few years but we decide we needed to do more.

Our boys are young and we would like to make sure that when their children grow up they can enjoy all the things that we love to do. Things like camping, hiking, fishing and the great outdoors in general.

So I started looking for ways that we could reduce our energy consumption. Our largest monthly bill is our electricity bill. I figured reducing it or even eliminating it would be a good first step. In this day and age, pretty much everyone knows that we need to start focusing on renewable sources of energy. Solar power is one of the most talked about. Of course, it’s no surprise since using the power of the sun has been around in some form since the dawn of time. There are many advantages to using solar power both for homes and businesses.

One of the biggest advantages is that solar power is renewable.  While it might be stronger in some areas and there could be rainy days when no sun is available, no matter how much solar power we use, we will never deplete the resource.  This is in sharp contrast to the fossil fuels we use now which are dwindling in supply.
